Tieös Pharmaceuticals announces the appointment of Dr. Michael Pollak to its Advisory Board

TORONTO, ON (OCTOBER 20, 2017) - Tieös Pharmaceuticals, a next-generation biotech company focused on cancer metabolic therapies, today announced the appointment of Dr. Michael Pollak to its Advisory Board, continuing the company’s momentum in drug discovery, development and validation.

Dr Michael Pollak holds the Alexander Goldfarb Research Chair in cancer research at McGill University, Montreal, Canada and directs the Division of Cancer Prevention of the Department of Oncology.  He practices medical oncology at the Jewish General Hospital in Montreal and is involved in clinical trials of novel agents related to growth factor targets. He also runs a research lab at the Lady Davis Research Institute, focusing on insulin and IGF physiology in relation to cancer and his lab also provides specialized ELISA assays for epidemiologic and pharmaceutical collaborators.

Dr Pollak has published more than 400 research papers and collaborates with leading cancer research groups worldwide in laboratory, clinical and epidemiologic studies related to the role of growth factors in human cancer.

Dr. Pollak has been recognized by McGill for his contributions to the University's favourable international standing. His 1998 publication in Science is one of the most widely cited Canadian contributions to the cancer research literature. Dr. Pollak has received continuous peer-reviewed funding from Canadian and international sources for more than 20 years. He received one of Quebec’s top scientific honours, the Chercheur national award from the FRSQ and was awarded the O. Harold Warwick Prize by the Canadian Cancer Society for outstanding achievements in cancer control research in 2012.
